Build A Scalable Group Coaching Offer

If your online experience is anything like mine…

….you get bombarded every day with multiple pieces of content as well as offers about how to “build and grow your coaching business!”

The truth is? At this point, you’ve already seen and heard about the main types of offers and business models you can have as a coach.

And it’s not some secret that group coaching is often the most effective way to scale a coaching business…

… But, oh man can it be a lot like herding cats.

Thankfully, this doesn’t have to be you!

In today’s edition of The Next Era Coach,  we’re covering how to build a simple AND scalable group coaching business that doesn’t leave you scrambling!

Let’s dive in…

The Deep Dive: Build A Scalable Group Coaching Offer

Expand out of 1-to-1 work, unlock your income as a coach, and create the impact you want for the world

Expanding out from 1-on-1 work to include group coaching sounds great in theory. But just like any “leap” we make in our businesses, there is going to be some fears and doubts.

Maybe you are worried that you won’t be able to build the same kinds of relationships or deliver the same kinds of results when people get less direct personal attention.

Or maybe your brain starts to spin whenever you think about how to deliver a cohesive group experience while also ensuring each person gets unique value from the program.

It’s easy to get overwhelmed thinking about the potential complications of bringing 5, 10, or even more strangers into a group container together.

At worst, figuring out how to serve everyone in the group in the way they need while staying in the group dynamic can feel a bit like this:

And the ugly truth is that it can all fall apart pretty quickly…
If you don’t have much experience leading a group, you need a new set of skills. It is necessary to scale your coaching business short of being able to clone yourself multiple times.
And while you can’t spend as much time with each client in a group setting….
You can still work with everyone in the room in each thing you do.
How?
There is one great benefit of group coaching that no one gets 1-on-
1:
Each person in the group learns through witnessing and learning through the experience of everyone else in the group.
Lean into this….
In the 1-on-1 portions of group sessions (Q&A’s, hot seats, etc), spend most of your time focused fully on just the one person.
But then be sure to address the group and generalize the essence of the advice and where it applies beyond the specific situation just discussed.
It’s like they’re getting free coaching on things that haven’t happened yet in their lives!
With that in mind, here’s a simple process to ensure you build a high-quality, scalable group coaching program:

  1. Choose the format in which you believe you can serve others best while making time for individual coaching opportunities.

Set the structure but invite feedback every step of the way to
    ensure your clients are happy.

  2. Master the delicate balance of general and specific; your sessions should feel relevant to everyone on each call, regardless of their industry.

Take what you’ve learned and break it down into simple principles others can use, while still answering specific questions as they come up.
  3. Turn the call structure into a repeatable process you can give to other coaches and expand your team to help even more clients at once!
  4. Know that not everyone’s learning style will be a group and that’s why having the option of working with you, 1-on-1, is still a great option.

But once you have a group offer, it allows you to charge more for your dedicated 1-on-1 attention.

  5. When it makes sense, you can add additional support outside of the group calls. Possibly a private community or additional experts or coaches to help manage the group.
  6. Give massive value but also ask for value in return. Gather testimonials. Ask for referrals. Incentivize group coaching members to stay in the group or to add some exclusive 1-on-1 sessions on top of their participation in the group.
  7. End result: helping more people than ever before while charging what you’re worth!

Easier said than done? Of course.
But if you offer a great solution to a burning pain to many people at once, you can build an incredible business that lasts!
We’ll be going even deeper into this format in the future… but for today, let’s dive right in.
