Today we’re talking about how to attract the best clients (and how to keep them around) — so you never have to resort to “hunt mode” again.
To do that, we have to upgrade how our business does 2 things:
Acquire Great Clients
&
Retain Them For Months (or Years!)
Taking an honest look at how you can improve in these areas is not for the faint of heart.
It is common to feel frustrated or ashamed or helpless or one of many other of those uncomfortable emotions that can make you “nope” right out of the exercise that would help you grow your biz….
You’ve got to be able to not only attract attention….
….but you need to be able to attract the attention of people who are likely to be longer term, higher value clients.
That sounds great…
But, how do you ACTUALLY do it?
Well, that happens to be the exact things we’re covering in today’s edition of the Next Era Coach!
The Deep Dive: How to Attract (& KEEP) the Best Clients
This is how you break out of the emotionally draining feast-or-famine cycle….
There’s a big difference between a client who readily buys…
And one who readily stays.
Even if you have a solid flow of new clients coming in….
….your profit margin will suffer greatly if you have to keep acquiring new clients in order to sustain your revenue numbers.
The ability to generate stable (or growing!) revenue month after month from existing and past clients is the game changer in business.
If you can do that, you can do whatever you want from there.
You can work less hours and actually enjoy your successes a bit more.
Or you could invest with greater confidence into your team…
Or into your marketing…
Or into your client experience…
And if you can’t do that, you might want to install a revolving door in your business for all the clients who don’t buy from you again (and again)….
Want to know the “hidden” secret behind the coaching businesses with the best retention rates?
It all comes down to expectations.
If clients expect amazing results right away…the best you can do is meet that expectation.
And even then, clients in that position are going to expect a continuous stream of breakthrough results from there.
But clients who understand from the beginning that the problems you solve and the results you deliver are outcomes of a journey that you help guide them on.
Which means that your messaging and your sales process has to attract people who are truly committed to the investment of themselves that they’ll need to make in order to get what they are truly after.
And it goes way beyond the financial investment….
You want people who are willing to do the internal and the external work in the name of what they really want to create in the world or the ways they most want to transform themselves.
The fastest & simplest way to begin to do this:
Qualify your prospects more heavily during the sales process.
And turn away the ones who fail this litmus test. Ask yourself:
“Will this person still be committed to growing with me 1 year from now or even longer?”
If they join and you feel certain of the answer, perfect — that’s when the start of a beautiful, rewarding, and long lived relationship begins!
The best clients stick around when they:
• Consistently see the results you’ve promised…
• Enjoy working with YOU specifically because they finally feel seen + understood…
• Can see continued opportunities for growth and improvement with you on the horizon.
So without further ado…
3 Useful Actions To Grow & Retain An Amazing Client Base:
- Before you run ads or post on social media, make sure that you’re not only targeting the right market….….but that you’re also targeting the right buyers within that market!
Think about what you offer and how you market + sell your offers for a moment…
Ask yourself:
“Where am I unintentionally inviting in low quality clients?”
Whatever comes up, make that change A$AP!
And from now on, deny prospects who aren’t an amazing fit ; ) - Review your onboarding process. Does it “surprise and delight”?
More importantly, do clients feel seen and cared for even before they officially start working with you?
How can you upgrade the magic in your welcome email(s)? Can you give some aligned and meaningful welcome gift(s)? How else can you set the relationship up for success right from the start?
- Continue to sell your clients on themselves and the reason(s) why they invested in your offer.
Prompt them to reflect regularly on their wins and their growth.
Have them reconnect with the vision of what they are moving towards and see themselves continuing to have successes at each stage of the journey they are on with you.
Obviously, you probably won’t be able to make every one of these changes right away…..
And that’s okay. This isn’t a race.
Check in with your intuition and make the right move(s) at the right time(s) for your business.
However long it takes to implement these things
We’ve seen it happen over and over and over when it all comes together…
Coaching businesses transform.
Struggle and fear are replaced with abundance and power
And it becomes your natural state to feel like you are “in the zone”, on purpose, and in alignment.
